Biography Rustam Makhmudyan
To date, an urgent issue for the Ezids around the world is the recognition of the genocide in Shangal by the world community. This issue was also raised in the Armenian parliament, but subsequently rejected. Please tell me what measures will you take so that the Yezidov genocide is officially recognized by Armenia? What are the reasons for the deviation of this bill?
I have repeatedly stated at the world level, as well as at the level of the Armenian authorities, in particular in the National Assembly, that the recognition and condemnation of the genocide in Shangal in August, in addition, should not be sought for subtexts that the consistent bill was not adopted because earlier the President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan qualified in the UN.
Genocide. In this case, it is inappropriate to assume that in Armenia, for one reason or another, genocide was not recognized and convicted. I noted several times that it is necessary to develop a legally competent document, and I am sure that in the person of the Republican Party and opposition groups, we will receive support in this matter. Let's follow the events and, I think, we will witness the implementation into the reality of our dreams, since at the moment work is being carried out regarding the development of a bill on the adoption of a genocide against the Yezids.
I would like to ask you about another important issue - recognition of the Yezidov genocide, our direct ancestors, in the Ottoman Empire by Armenia.
In the city, then the vice speaker of the parliament, Mr. Sharmazanov, publicly promised to create a working group to study this issue. About 2 years passed and Mr. Sharmazanov apparently forgot about his promises. Will you work in this direction? The non -recognition of the Yezidov genocide committed by the Ottoman authorities is the case of the past. It would be correct to send your questions to Mr.
Sharmazanov and he will answer you exhaustively. The expression of opinions about the actions of others, rather, will have an amateur character on my part. I can convince you of one thing - Mr. Sharmazanov, together with other deputies, will also join my legislative initiative to recognize the genocide in Shangala. What do you think, what are the main reasons for this phenomenon, how to resist this and what you personally, as an Yezid deputy, can you offer or do in order to stop this process?
The fight against this phenomenon should be tireless. Our clergy should take this problem seriously. Instead of declaring themselves the spiritual leaders of the Yezidov, representatives of the clergy should actually fight against such a disease as religious exploration. To date, this trend has affected not only the Yezid families, but also the Armenian. Unfortunately, this is due to difficult social living conditions.
Some people, due to material wealth, are ready to abandon our values, with the help of which we have retained our spiritual and national identity for many centuries. I think that not only me, but all the people should resist this process. The Yezid diaspora is worried about the issue of teaching by the Yezid children in the schools of the History of the Armenian Church. And often these children have no choice, which is a violation of human rights.
Please tell me, can the Ministry of Education of Armenia consider the issue of Yezid children not at the request of this subject, or visit a similar subject, for example, the “History of the Yezid Religion”? In this matter, I cannot agree with you, because your proposal does not proceed from the norms of the Constitution. I will explain why. The study of the history of a country or people is not a rejection of their religion or the history of their people.
Moreover, we have many Christian historians and scientific researchers studied, for example, the specifics of the Muslim religion. Following your logic, they should not have studied Islam. Moreover, in this case, we are talking about the study of the subject “History of the Armenian Church” at the school level, for which there are not so many hours. If representatives of the Yezid community find the strength to root in their children the Ezid faith and religious features, I am sure that you will not have such questions.
I regret that sometimes in our community about religion and national traditions they say people whose daughters married Muslims, sons took the wives of Christians, as well as those who are neglecting the religious foundations of the Yezids. Such people do not have the right to talk about morality. The Yezid faith and religious features should be rooted in the child from birth.
In this case, the study of the History of the Armenian Church cannot affect the religious views of the representative of the Yezid community. What problems are the Ezid community of Armenia today and how, in your opinion, can these problems be solved? I think that all issues regarding the Yezidov are of a national, in particular, social and economic nature. The next problem is the lack of unity and the strengthening of disagreements among the Yezidis.I am ready to listen to any problem regarding our community, and make legislative initiatives aimed at their decision.
But, first of all, we must make our children grow competent and united, so that our unity leads us to progress. Thank you for devoting time to us and wish you success!
