Biography is green arrow
Share the main archer DC is experiencing a second birth - now in Russian! New 52 inflicted a very strong blow to the characters of DC Comics. Someone lost their half-century history, some changes were served under the brand “image”, but in fact-they only eroded what is usually called the essence of the character. And the publishing house could not decide almost to the Rebirth itself.
These characters were, among other things, Oliver Quin. The author’s compositions were replaced by gloves. Almost every screenwriter, coming to a series, brushed his predecessor from the table of the toy of his predecessor from the table and scrupulously arranged his own-so that after a short time someone else would take his place, and the cycle repeated again. Among the entire author’s galaxy, the duet of Jeff Lemira and Andrea Sorrentino was noted brighter than the others, issuing wounds, which is included in the pantheon of generally the best stories about the emerald arb.
The ABC publishing house did not miss its opportunity and issued this wounds in two collections with a solid cover. This year, it was the turn to publish another remarkable comic book about the green arrow - formally begun in the year along with the initiative “Rebirth” and, at the time of writing these lines, which ended with Benjamin Percy. What was the goal of Rebirth?
Return to the world of comics DC "Optimism and Hope"? Yes, but at the same time it was very important to return those elements of the characters mythology that ingloriously disappeared during the News for many fans of the emerald archer the first half of X was a strong blow of the underly - the usual and so beloved elements like Espanyolka and the black canary could not be found both in comics and in the accompanying media.
The exception could be called “Young Justice”, yes “Injustice: Gods among us”, but within the comic books themselves about all the above was neither hearing nor spirit. And Benjamin Percy intended to fix it. Of course, in order not to once again get their comic book for those who will start their acquaintance with the character through him, Percy gives all the necessary information right on the spot.
Clearly and concise. Oliver Quin is again an active public figure spending a huge amount of money on charity. Daine Lance, according to her history from New 52, is a soloist in a group called "Black Canary." Just like Oliver, she advocates the well -being of ordinary citizens and has skills that she is not afraid to use them from all sorts of villains.
On the pages of the collection “Death and Life of Oliver Quin”, the first meeting of Oliver and Daine has been taking place since the last restart of the DC universe. The author refers to the reunification of the characters, as a matter of "understanding" and the fact that "it should have happened a long time ago." Looking ahead, I would like to note that the relationship of the arrow and canaries is one of the best elements of the whole wound of Ben Percy.
Beautifully written and very sensually painted by two wonderful artists - our compatriot working in the West under the name Otto Schmidt, and Argentinean Juan Ferreira. And if Schmidt’s style is more like an indie or “Young-Edalt” comics, with their characteristic and very appropriate emotionality, then the style of the second artist is almost a European BD. On a drawing with such great attention to the details and on bright, harmonious coloring, I just want to look without taking my eyes off.
And, probably, the drawing is the main reason for buying a comic book. The history of the first volume, although it returns pleasant elements of the character’s mythology, but completely leaves social provocality outside. Of course, a good comic book about an emerald archer can be written and without affecting the above question, but Percy is fully made by attempts to designate Oliver as a character of socially active.
Unfortunately, attempts are quite toothless and almost instantly interrupted by the axial plot of the whole wound - the confrontation between the infernal group "Ninth Circle". All on Dante, yes. In addition, the main “sin” of the Persia wound on the arrow can quite calmly be considered his secondary beginning. This is a typical situation for the entire Title, repeated throughout New Fortunately, the comic book is written quite easily and pleasant, without exacerbating perception from even the secondary tie of history.
Regarding the publication itself, everything that you can traditionally expect from the ABC comics: Variant covers mainly from Neil Adams, Schmidt sketches and sketches, demonstrating both various designs of comic book protagonists and the process of working on the comic book pages. The cover, like other books of the ruler - varnished, embossed and therefore very pleasant to the touch.
Unfortunately, not a sinless translation can be ranked to the same traditional and transitional features. You can relate to the gag in translations as you like - it is usually customary to condemn this. In this case, this is rather a taste, that is, during the reading, one rather gross error and a number of less errors were noticed. An example of a rough error is a translation of the phrase “Little Miss Rock Star!
Miss Lance has not changed so much over the past years. Considering that the publisher was obvious to edit the size of the bubbles with the text - and this is noticeable if we compare the Russian edition with, at least, a digital copy of the comic book, it is decisively incomprehensible why it happened. In the dry residue, we have an outstanding, but well -written and well -painted comic book about the green arrow, which returns his artistic flexibility, restoring important pieces of mythology of an emerald archer.
The Russian comic book is quite competent, but the translation is more than a functional character, not very successfully coping with the preservation of the stylistic features of the original text. For the first acquaintance with the character - it is even better than the cult wound of Lemira. If his “green arrow” was sufficiently relied on mysticism, which could not be like, then Persia has a rather mundane comic with a number of relatively light fantastic elements.
Much stronger than gravitating to a more familiar superhero, of course. For the copy of the comic book for the review, we express gratitude to the ABC publishing house.
